Please join us on November 2nd with the task of marking the locations where trees will be planted. The locations have been planned with a map\, and that information will be shared with you when you arrive. \nCity staff may be on site earlier than 8:30 am. The end time is until whenever the preparation is complete. Even if you have 2 hours to help as a volunteer\, we would be appreciate of any assistance you can provide. This activity is intended for adult participation since it is a school day and there will be some heavy equipment moving around on the site. \nPlease bring your signed waiver. \nParking is the street at the 798 block of Stewart Rd. DESCRIPTION:Tree Delivery Day \nThe MPF is prepping the McKinney Greens site for a special tree planting event on November 6th. Volunteers are needed to help prepare the site on Friday\, November 5th. The sign-up for the event on Saturday the 6th will be through the City of McKinney’s website. \nWe will be planting 1600 trees (15 gallon to smaller saplings). DESCRIPTION:Sign up is online through mckinneytexas.org/wctrees \nRestore the Canopy! The Wilson Creek Tree Planting Event is a riparian restoration partnership project. Help plant trees to protect water quality and restore Wilson Creek to its natural beauty. Volunteers are needed. Please sign up to help plant trees by Friday\, Oct. 22. Children 12 years and older may volunteer with an adult. If this event is rained out the event will occur on Saturday\, Nov. 13. \nRSVPs and the waiver through the City’s site is required. If you have a scout troop or group where minors are participating with a chaperone and the parent won’t be present\, contact ellenlataie@gmail.com to inquire about the waiver process. The guardian must sign the waiver for each child. \n \nEvent Day Information for Wilson Creek Tree Planting Event \nNovember 6th\, 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM \nParking: Collin County Appraisal District parking lot\n250 Eldorado Pkwy\, McKinney\, TX 75069 \nShuttle: There will be a shuttle running every 15 minutes to/from the parking lot. Do not park in the adjacent neighborhoods or along the street. The shuttle will make two stops. The first stop along the southern edge of McKinney Greens on Stewart Road is for those participants who signed up for the Seedlings. If you are an adult participating with children\, this is where you will exit. The second stop is on the north end along Wilson Creek Parkway. This is the stop for those participants who signed up for the 3–5-gallon trees or 15-gallon trees. The shuttle will pick you up when you leave the event and take you back to the parking lot. \nArrival: After existing the shuttle\, check in at the tents. You will then be directed to move to the area where you will be volunteering. All participants are required to have completed the waiver. Children who are volunteering must have had their waiver signed by a parent or guardian. \nWhat to Bring: Work gloves\, closed-toe shoes\, and enthusiasm! The site does not have a secure location for you to store your personal belongings. Please only bring what you can carry on your person. The first 200 volunteers to arrive will receive a complimentary reusable water bottle. Limited snacks will be available. \nSafety First: This event involves heave equipment\, tools\, and the natural passive park space is home to animals and poison ivy. Stay in the areas where you are performing the work and be alert of your surroundings. Do not use earbuds and children must be always supervised by their parent/guardian/chaperone. Those who demonstrate irresponsibility with equipment or disregard safety instructions will be asked to leave the event. If you are unfamiliar with how to operate a tool\, choose a task that you are more comfortable with performing. Organizers will be around to demonstrate the use of certain tools and provide instruction on your tasks. \nIF YOU ARE A NURSE\, DOCTOR\, OR EMT and would like to volunteer your services to attend to those who need minor first aid during the event\, please e-mail mckinneyparksfoundation@gmail.com. \nFacilities: Portable restrooms will be available to volunteers. DESCRIPTION:When: Saturday\, 11/20 at 8:00 AM\nWhere: McKinney Greens (Parks at 798 block of Stewart Rd). \nComplete and print your waiver here. \nThe Restore the Canopy event took place on November 6th and we had over 120 volunteers attend! There are still some trees which need to be planted. \nYour help is needed this Saturday. Wear closed-toe shoes\, bring work gloves and water. Tools will be provided\, but you can bring your own shovel if you have one. \nPark along Stewart Road\, do not park in the neighborhood. The area we will be working can be accessed by following the sidewalks into the property.
