DESCRIPTION:Event: Milkweed Planting Event \nThe McKinney Parks Foundation received a grant of 500 milkweed plants to support Monarch Butterflies.  The grant is from Monarchwatch.org. \n“This program focuses on distributing free milkweed plugs for habitat restoration projects throughout the range of the eastern monarch butterfly population\, which is east of the Rocky Mountains.” \nThe milkweeds will be plated in the McKinney Greens public space. Your help is needed! \nVolunteers who need to earn service hours may have their service paperwork signed by a board member at the conclusion of the event. \nWaiver: To participate\, volunteers must sign a waiver. Please print off the waiver in advance to save time at check-in. Click here for the waiver. Minors under 18 must have a legal guardian sign their waiver. \nTime: 8-11 AM \nLocation: McKinney Greens Open Space\, Parking on north side of Stewart Rd\, West of Hwy 5. DESCRIPTION:This event is in partnership with the Dallas Off-road Bike Association (DORBA). The event is from 8 AM-11 AM. \nWhere: Meet in the upper parking lot of Erwin Park.  Look for the popup  Please arrive early so you turn in your waiver. Please print the volunteer waiver in advance to save time. \nWhat will we be doing:  The green will be in full effect\, so there will be ample trimming\, some digging\, and as always some surprise RichFit for the uninitiated. \nWhat do I need to wear:  Please wear closed toed shoes\, long pants\, and long sleeve shirts.  Bring sunscreen and insect repellent.  Poison ivy and chiggers are prevalent at Erwin Park. Brink a mask to wear and any protective eyewear you may need if working with the heavier equipment. \nWhat do I need to bring:  We will prove hand tools.  If you have any power equipment for trimming or leaf blowing\, please bring it\, but you will not be allowed to participate without the proper protective gear including eye protection.
