Tools available will include weed whackers\, backpack blowers\, loppers\, shovels\, etc. To use power tools\, you’ll have to complete MPF Safety Orientation. Click here to view the regulations. \nWhat to bring: Print the volunteer waiver and bring it with you. Participants under age 18 need to have a guardian or parent sign the form. You will also need to have your own work gloves. Bring bug spray\, sunscreen\, and water. Protective eye wear is recommended if you plan to be cutting branches or operating some of the cutting tools. If you bring your own tools\, please have them marked as such so we know they are yours. \nWhat do I wear: Long pants\, long sleeves\, and closed toed shoes or boots. Sunscreen and bug spray are recommended.  Please dress appropriately for the weather. Activities include weed removal\, cutting tree limbs\, cleaning surfaces\, picking up trash\, and mulching. Tools available will include weed whackers\, backpack blowers\, loppers\, shovels\, grabbers\, etc. To use power tools\, you’ll have to complete MPF Safety Orientation. \nWhat to bring: Print the volunteer waiver and bring it with you. Participants under age 18 need to have a guardian or parent sign the form. \n\n\n\n\n\nWater\, sunscreen\, bug spray\, work gloves.\nRakes/shovels/hoes (supplied by MPF and Erwin Park MTB\, tool donations gladly accepted)\nPower tools\, battery operated\, for trail maintenance. DESCRIPTION:McKinney Greens Volunteer Workday \nWhere: McKinney Greens Park\, 798 Stewart Rd McKinney\, TX 75069 United States \nWhen: August 17th\, 2024\, 8 – 11 AM \nWhat we will be doing: We will be performing tree care by checking in on the trees planted during the Restore the Canopy Tree Planting Event in 2021. Trees may need to be pushed upright\, tall grass areas trimmed\, litter picked up\, etc. We will also be clearing riparian areas of tall reeds and other aggressive under-story which is not conducive to a healthy creekside. \nThere are also remnants of the Interurban Railway that once used to connect the City of McKinney to surrounding towns. We will be checking in on these & preforming any sort of maintenance needed to help these historical landmarks be visible and clean. Please read about the Interurban Railway by clicking here. \nParking is available on Stewart Road on the right in front of the entrance. The Stewart Rd. entrance can be accessed by turning off of Highway 5 (north of 121\, south of Eldorado). \nWhat to bring: bring a signed waiver\, click here to fill out and print. The Gardens purpose\, once back in shape\, is to educate the community on native and drought tolerant plants. We are excited to partner with the City of McKinney’s Parks and Recreation Department and Office of Environmental Sustainability to bring this Garden to life. \nWhat to bring: Print the volunteer waiver and bring it with you. Parking and restrooms are available at the Recreation Center at Towne Lake. \nLook for our tent for sign in! \nWhat we will be doing: Using trimmers to clear the trail of overgrowth\, track pickup\, clean the picnic areas\, remove fallen debris on the trail. Tools available will include weed whackers\, backpack blowers\, loppers\, shovels\, etc. This park experiences graffiti often\, if you’re interested in helping clean graffiti\, please bring tools like a bucket\, water\, cleaning gloves\, soap\, rags\, scrubbing brushes / graffiti cleaning kit. \nWhat to bring: Print the volunteer waiver and bring it with you. Participants under age 18 need to have a guardian or parent sign the form. You will also need to have your own work gloves. Bring bug spray\, sunscreen\, and water. Protective eyewear is recommended if you plan to be cutting branches or operating some of the cutting tools. Individuals needing to earn service hours can have their records signed by a board member at the conclusion of the event. \nThis event is in association with Erwin Park MTB and DORBA. \nWhere: Erwin Park 4300 Co Rd 1006\, McKinney\, TX 75071 \nWhat we will be doing: This workday will consist of maintenance on the Skills Course Area at Erwin Park and in some high-need areas needing to clear the trail of overgrowth\, trash pickup\, remove fallen debris on trails. Tools available will include weed whackers\, backpack blowers\, loppers\, shovels\, grabbers\, etc. To use power tools\, you’ll have to complete MPF Safety Orientation. \nWhat to bring: Print the volunteer waiver and bring it with you. DESCRIPTION:Webb Elementary is the first Elementary School to benefit from our Elementary School Garden initiative.  This initiative will build on our journey with McKinney Roots and the East McKinney Learning Gardens and begin to create school gardens that will enhance the learning of our elementary students. Our goal is to connect our students and community by developing school gardens where students can connect their learning in math\, science and STEAM to real world applications. When trails are muddy they should not be walked on – walking on muddy trails creates uneven surfaces and can compact soil or cause excessive erosion depending on the damage done. \nWhere: Towne Lake Nature Trail\, 2001 S Central Expy\, McKinney\, TX 75070\, The trail is to the East of the McKinney Recreation Center’s parking lot. Parking and restrooms are available at the Recreation Center at Towne Lake. \nLook for our tent for sign in! \nWhat we will be doing: Using trimmers to clear the trail of overgrowth\, track pickup\, clean the picnic areas\, remove fallen debris on the trail. Tools available will include weed whackers\, backpack blowers\, loppers\, shovels\, etc. This park experiences graffiti often\, if you’re interested in helping clean graffiti\, please bring tools like a bucket\, water\, cleaning gloves\, soap\, rags\, scrubbing brushes / graffiti cleaning kit. \nWhat to bring: Print the volunteer waiver and bring it with you. Participants under age 18 need to have a guardian or parent sign the form. You will also need to have your own work gloves. Bring bug spray\, sunscreen\, and water. Protective eyewear is recommended if you plan to be cutting branches or operating some of the cutting tools. If you bring your own tools\, please have them marked as such so we know they are yours. \nWhat do I wear: Long pants\, long sleeves\, face covering\, and closed toed shoes or boots. Sunscreen and bug spray are recommended.  Please dress appropriately for the weather. Please do not wear leggings or other thin material which is not protective on your body. \nPlease arrive at least 10 minutes early for waiver sign-in and team assignments. \nVolunteers can earn service hours for their school group\, troop\, or club. DESCRIPTION:McKinney Greens Volunteer Workday \nWhere: McKinney Greens Park\, 798 Stewart Rd McKinney\, TX 75069 United States \nWhen: January 20th\, 2024 8 – 11 AM * \nWhat we will be doing: We will be preforming tree care by checking in on the trees planted during the Restore the Canopy Tree Planting Event in 2021. Trees may need to be pushed upright\, tall grass areas trimmed\, litter picked up\, etc. We will also be clearing riparian areas of tall reeds and other aggressive under-story which is not conducive to a healthy creekside. \nThere are also remnants of the Interurban Railway that once used to connect the City of McKinney to surrounding towns. We will be checking in on these & preforming any sort of maintenance needed to help these historical landmarks be visible and clean. Please read about the Interurban Railway by clicking here. \nParking is available on Stewart Road on the right in front of the entrance. The Stewart Rd. entrance can be accessed by turning off of Highway 5 (north of 121\, south of Eldorado). \nWhat to bring: bring a signed waiver\, click here to fill out and print. Participants under age 18 need to have a guardian or parent sign the form. You will also need to have your own work gloves for this activity. Bring bug spray\, sunscreen\, and water. If you bring your own tools\, including trowels or shovels\, please have them marked with your name and contact information.
