You may bring any tools you may prefer to use as well. Be sure to sign up through the Princeton website. \nSign Up Here: Tickey Creek Tree Planting | Princeton\, TX (princetontx.gov) \nWhat we will be doing: Planting trees. The holes will be pre-dug. We need volunteers to assist in the careful planting of these trees\, and we are looking for leads when it comes to training other volunteers on how to properly plant trees for best chance of survival. DESCRIPTION:Come join us and the Dallas Off-Road Bicycle Association (DORBA) at Erwin Park in McKinney as we get together on October 22\, 2022\, for the Volunteer McKinney Make a Difference Day! \nWhere: Erwin Park\, 4300 Co Rd 1006\, McKinney\, TX 75071 \nWhen: October 22nd\, 2022\, 8 AM – 12 PM \nThis is a family friendly event. \nOur event will entail volunteers painting the various fencing and other wood structures recently added to the park for the new Mountain Bike Skills Area. The raw wood fencing and archways into the skills area will all get painted with traditional park brown outdoor paint to help preserve and protect for many years. \nWe are looking for volunteers to help us complete this task as a community\, and to spend the time with us outdoors helping to improve the park. \nPaint and all painting supplies will be provided\, volunteers that are capable may use ladders provided for any higher reaching archways with a spotter present\, most of the painting will occur at ground level. \nPlease make sure to wear clothing that is appropriate for outdoor sun exposure and that you are ok with getting a little paint on if minor spills or brush splashes occur. \nTo participate\, please sign up through Volunteer McKinney

Individuals needing to earn service hours can have their records signed by a board member at the conclusion of the event. \nWhat we will be doing: Using trimmers to clear the trail of overgrowth\, track pickup\, clean the picnic areas\, remove fallen debris on the trail. Tools available will include weed whacker\, backpack blower\, loppers\, etc. \n\nWhat do I wear: Long pants\, long sleeves\, face covering\, and closed toed shoes or boots.  You will also need to have your own work gloves.  All tools will be provided by the McKinney Parks Foundation. Bring bug spray\, sunscreen\, and water. Protective eyewear is recommended if you plan to be cutting branches or operating some of the cutting tools. \nThe trail is to the East of the McKinney Community Center parking lot at 2001 S Central Expy\, McKinney\, TX 75070. Parking is available at the Community Center. Please print the volunteer waiver in advance to save time. \nWhat will we be doing:  The green will be in full effect\, so there will be ample trimming\, some digging\, and as always some surprise RichFit for the uninitiated. \nWhat do I need to bring:  We will prove hand tools.  If you have any power equipment for trimming or leaf blowing\, please bring it\, but you will not be allowed to participate without the proper protective gear including eye protection. There will be drinks provided.

DESCRIPTION:What:  McKinney Parks Foundation 2022 Kick Off Meeting \nWhere:  1244 Gray Branch Rd\, McKinney\, TX 75071 \nWhen:  Thursday\, January 13th from 6:00PM to 8:00PM (come and go) \n  \nWhat’s this about:  This is the McKinney Parks Foundation (MPF) Annual Kick Off event.  Come find out about where the MPF is going to be focusing resources\, grant funding\, and volunteer efforts at Towne Lake\, McKinney Greens\, Erwin Park\, and the newest park addition for the City\, and Gray Branch. \n  \nCome find out about the Board of Directors and openings: \n\nVolunteer efforts on trail work days\, trail team leads.\nVideographer and photographers to document the progress.\nGrant coordinator.\nGenerate ideas and narratives for scout projects when we receive inquiries.\n\n  \nThere will be food and beverages provided in an come and go atmosphere to meet and greet the current MPF leadership and learn how you can get involved more effectively in the Parks you already love right here in McKinney\, \n  \nAbout the McKinney Parks Foundation:  The McKinney Parks Foundation has been in existence since 2017 with three main functions: \n\nOrganizing volunteers to help with projects in conjunction with the McKinney Parks and Recreation Department;\nEncourage engagement by residents in park activities and programs;\nProvide a structure for organizing educational opportunities about the natural environment.\n\n  \nThe MPF coordinates teams of volunteers to work on projects in the parks such as maintenance of hike and bike trails\, building nature trails\, upkeep of parks and open spaces\, and adding amenities. The MPF partners with other local organizations (e.g. Master Naturalists\, Crepe Myrtle Trail\, DORBA) to provide education to school children and other McKinney residents and visitors that are interested in learning about nature and the ecology of North Texas. The current MPF Board of Directors is composed of McKinney residents who have served on the Parks Advisory Board\, a Master Naturalist\, a licensed professional engineer\, and others who have a keen interest in community involvement and enhancing the quality of life in McKinney. \nTo date the MPF has been awarded over $80\,000 in grants\, and has put in close to 4\,000 volunteer hours since 2017.
